Mekelle University Online Journals (MUOJ)

Mekelle University Online Journals (MUOJ) is hosted by Mekelle University under vice president for research and community engagement office. The  ideal of MUOJ is to  give a platform to publish original journals online using Open Journals System( OJS) so as to increase  sharing journals visibility, and to the  exploration convey through open access. The MUOJ platform is freely available to all locally published open access journals in Mekelle University.

  • East African Journal of Health Sciences

    East African Journal of Health Sciences an open access biannual peer reviewed journal interested in original research in the areas of health. The journal welcomes submissions of original research papers, systematic reviews that provide original information on health issues, case series, case reports and letters to the editor (correspondence) usually commenting on a recent publication in the journal. The journal also publishes special issues which bring together collections of papers on a particular theme usually edited by a guest editor and subject to customary reviewing process.

  • Momona Ethiopian Journal of Science (MEJS)

    Momona Ethiopian Journal of Science (MEJS) is a free access e-journal devoted primarily to the original contributions containing original scientific findings in any of the science fields, having national or international appeal and significance. It is aimed to publish the research output mainly related to earth science, physical sciences, chemical sciences, biological sciences and computational sciences; and focuses on all aspects of geology, chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics and related areas. 

  • Journal of the Drylands

    The Journal of the Drylands is a peer-reviewed journal, published bi-annually by Mekelle University. The Journal of the Drylands publishes: Original research articles, Integrative scientific and development researches, reviewed articles,  feature articles,  short communications, book reviews, letter to editors from arid and semiarid regions, addressing Agriculture, Natural Resources, Pastoralism, Biotechnology, Food Sciences, Geography, Geology, Pedology, Hydrology, Biology, Ecology, Climate and Climate Change, Land Degradation, Soil and Water Conservation, Land Use Policy Environmental Monitoring and Management.

  • International Journal of Business and Development

    International Journal of Business and Development (IJBD) is a bi-annual, open access, peer-reviewed International journal that publishes both theoretical and empirical research papers in the fields of Business and Development issues. The focus of the journal is original completed research that has application to academicians, researchers, business persons and public policy makers within the broad areas of business, economics and development.

  • Ethiopian Journal of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Production (EJVSAP)

    Ethiopian Journal of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Production (EJVSAP) was established in 2017 by Mekelle University. It is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary open access e-journal dedicated to provide the advancement and dissemination of scientific knowledge on veterinary sciences, biomedical sciences, animal production and related disciplines. It covers all the scientific and technological aspect of veterinary sciences and animal production. The aim of this journal is to publish high quality papers regularly, twice a year published in English. There is no cost to the user to read or publish manuscripts.

  • ITYOPIS: Northeast African Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities

    ITYOP̣IS – Northeast African Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (NEAJ) appears biannually. In addition, special issues are published on an irregular basis. Subscription orders shall be submitted to the editorial office. Manuscripts of scholarly articles, including miscellaneous articles, book reviews, conference reports, and research abstracts, are welcome and shall be submitted in electronic form (Word and PDF). They have to be based on original research. After screening, articles are submitted to external reviewers for peer review. ITYOP̣IS reserves the right to make necessary language changes, request the author to do so, or reject the article submitted. By their submission authors agree that their article will be published also in the e-version of ITYOP̣IS. Manuscripts will not be returned.

     

  • Branna Journal of Engineering and Technology

    Branna Journal of Engineering and Technology (BJET) is established in September 2017 at Ethiopian Institute of Technology-Mekelle (EiT-M), Mekelle University to publish qualified articles biannually. The name Branna is given to this journal in praise of the ancient Ethiopian civilization in the area of literature.  Ancient Ethiopians used to write their literatures on a parchment referred to us “Branna”, hence the name to this journal. BJIT is a multidisciplinary platform that aims to publish quality research and innovation outcomes in the areas of engineering and technology. Since reputability and wide acceptance among researchers is the main concern of the journal, only articles with impactful results and well discussed in a way that is easily understandable to the wide readership are considered for publication.     

  • Ethiopian Journal of Gender Research

    Ethiopian Journal of Gender Research (EJGR) is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Institute of Environment, Gender and Development Studies (IEGDS) at Mekelle University. The main objective of EJGR is to generate  discussion  and provide  a platform  for researchers,  academics,  professionals, practitioners and students to impart and share  knowledge  in  the form of high quality academic works that advance  the scholarship with in  the broad spectrum  of methodological, theoretical,  practical or comparative study of issues related to gender. EJGR aims to become the leading and pioneer journal in Gender Studies in Ethiopia.

  • Journal of Educational and Behavioral Sciences

    The Journal of Educational and Behavioral Sciences (JEBS) is double-blind peer reviewed journal which accepts research articles related to education and/or other areas that have clear implications to education. It is hosted by the institute of Pedagogical sciences –Mekelle University. The journal publishes two issues per year and published articles will be available online in the journal’s archive.

  • Mekelle University Journal of Political Science and Strategic Studies

    The MU-Journal of Political Science and Strategic Studies (MU-JPSSS) is dedicated to advancing scholarly discourse in the fields of political science and strategic studies, particularly as they pertain to Africa. The journal aims to publish high-quality research that contributes to the understanding of political dynamics, social issues, and strategic developments within the continent and beyond.

  • Hateta Journal of Philosophy and Applied Ethics

    Journal of Philosophy and Applied Ethics (JPAE) is a peer review journal of the department of philosophy, College of law and Governance, Mekelle University. It aims to cover a wide range of topics in the area of philosophy and related fields of studies. This journal was initiated to boost academic engagements through reflection and by means of articulation and logical argumentation and that will allows us to analyze and critically examine the most fundamental questions (including) of man, natural environment, knowledge of God, existence. The main purpose of this journal therefore is facilitating access to various academic knowledge of philosophy and a host of other related fields and serving as a channel of disseminating the formerly stated scholarly activities.

  • Journal of Citizenship and Morality

    The Journal of Citizenship and Morality (JCM), published under the Department of Civics and Ethics at the College of Law and Governance, is pleased to announce an open call for manuscripts for its upcoming issue. As a biannual, peer-reviewed academic journal, JCM fosters scholarly discourse on citizenship, ethics, governance, and the moral dimensions of contemporary societal challenges. 

  • Journal of Demography Africa

    JDA is a peer-reviewed, biannual open-access journal focused on demography and population studies. It is the first of its kind from Mekelle University, Ethiopia, and one of the few in East Africa. JDA aims to bridge demography with various disciplines, including sociology, anthropology, psychology, economics, geography, GIS, statistics, and mathematics. Ethiopia has trained many demographers, but the lack of suitable journals has hindered their publications—JDA seeks to fill this gap. International in scope, it welcomes original research, technical notes, book reviews, and conference abstracts. Peer-reviewed by experts, JDA also supports migration studies and related fields such as public health, climate change, and gender studies.

  • Journal of Dialogue on Migration Dynamics

    The Journal of Dialogue on Migration Dynamics (JDMD) is a peer reviewed international academic journal published and hosted by the Center for Migration Studies (CMS), Institute of Population Studies, Mekelle University. The Journal publishes theoretical contributions as well as empirical research articles in the disciplines of migration dynamics (internal and international), the nexus between migration and development, internally displaced people, refugees, returnees reintegration, human trafficking and smuggling, drivers of migration, migration and urbanization and other contemporary issues related to migration.

    The Journal of Dialogue on Migration Dynamics (JDMD) also publishes book and article reviews, short communications that have clear connections to the contemporary migration dynamics. However, unless otherwise, the need for the book and article reviews including the short communications are found to be relevant and convincing to the editor-in-chief, due weight will be given to research articles (empirical and non-empirical types).

  • International Conference on Engineering and Technology-ICET

    The Proceedings of ICET is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes high-quality research presented at the International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET). The journal provides a platform for scientists, researchers, industry experts, and students to share innovative ideas, research findings, and technological advancements in the field of engineering and technology.

    This conference series is organized by Mekelle University, Ethiopian Institute of Technology-Mekelle (EiT-M), with the mission of fostering global collaboration and knowledge exchange in cutting-edge areas of science and engineering.
