Abstract

In this paper, we review some of the best practices of tailored education in Canada and the U.S. from Pre-K to College/University. We discuss some of the approaches commonly used to nurture the minds of the gifted and talented students and make a case for developing the same for Ethiopian children through our personal reflections and account of personal experiences. As parents, students and educators who have benefited from tailored programs, we feel obligated to share those experiences and reflections so that education policy makers may adopt them to formulate specialized programs at different levels. Our objective is to contribute to an ongoing dialogue about launching and running specialized programs, schools, colleges/universities as well as courses for the gifted and talented children.
