About the Journal

JDA is a peer reviewed biannual open access Interdisciplinary International Journal. It is the first demography/population studies journal started by Mekelle University of Ethiopia and perhaps one of its kinds in East Africa. This online publication of the IPoSt of the interdisciplinary subject demography/ population studies is mainly intended to serve the long-standing need of demographers, population scientists, sociologists, anthropologists, psychologists, economists, environmentalists, geography and GIS specialists, statisticians and mathematicians, etc. in need of a journal that publishes articles that interlinks the relationship between demography and their specialized subject. Over the past few decades Ethiopia produced a number of demographers by giving specialized training in demography/population studies at the graduate and under graduate level also. Dearth of suitable journal/journals to fulfil their needs hampered their progress in publication of their coveted dissertations and research efforts. Hope this journal fulfils their dreams now. International in perspective it is of the hope of the IPoSt that this JDA also serves the needs of various social scientists of the all over the world who are looking for publishing their outstanding researching findings in an authoritative university journal like the JDA. Published biannual and also open access the JDA hoped to attract original research articles, research notes on technical issues of the various relevant subjects, book reviews, conference advertisements, abstracts of the conferences, national and international job opportunities for demographers, etc., for their quick publication and reach of various audiences in need of good research. Being peer reviewed by two reputed experts in the respective fields of study, further published online JDA of IPoSt hope to serve immediate needs of various researchers, research scholars of various relevant fields of demography subject. It gives pleasure to mention that IPoSt, keeping the dearth of migration-demography of the African region has also simultaneously started a new journal on Migration. However, it is noticed the present JDA also serves the needs of certain migration specialists. Hope public health, environment, climate change, gender and development specialists also interpret this journal as a launching pad to disseminate their important research findings.

The Journal accepts and publishes contributions primarily written in English and/ or any of the Ethiopian languages.
