The Practice, Community Perception and Effect of Female Genital Mutilation on WomenHousehold Leaders in Hintallo Wajrat District

This study investigates the prevalence, community perceptions, and consequences of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Hintallo Wajrat District. Employing both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including surveys, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and in-depth interviews, the study explores the underlying reasons for FGM's persistence, such as cultural beliefs, societal pressures, and misconceptions about its benefits. Findings reveal that FGM significantly deteriorates the quality of life for affected women and girls, impacting their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. To address this issue, the study recommends comprehensive community education programs, as well as strict enforcement of laws against FGM to protect women and girls from this harmful practice.
